The “Golden Heart” Scholarship

This scholarship was created by Colton Brown, a 2014 WHS graduate. Colton graduated from Williston State College with his Associates of Arts and Associates of Science in 2017, his Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering in 2022 from NDSU, and now works as a Transportation Design Engineer for Stantec in Fargo while attending graduate school for his MBA. 

This scholarship is for individuals who show tremendous virtue and characteristics throughout their high school  career and to help them pursue their future career goals and aspirations through a college education. Winners of this scholarship are the type of people who generate thoughts of kindness, are good-natured, care for others, are empathetic, display thoughtfulness, and are helpful, considerate, and ethical. Even when their world may be crashing down, they never fail to display a Golden Heart.

Colton believes that having a golden heart is one of the greatest assets that a person can have. These characteristics can be tough to come by and aren’t always recognized on a day to day basis, thus the creation of this scholarship.
