Nina Kjorstad Shelby Memorial Scholarship

Nina Kjorstad was born Jan. 31, 1924, and spent her childhood and young adult life in Williams County, N.D. She considered herself a tomboy and enjoyed riding horses with her brothers. She graduated from Williston High School in 1941 and completed studies at the Minot Business Institute.

She married John Shelby in 1946 and they resided in North Richland Hills for over 50 years.

Nina retired from General Dynamics after 40 years working as an executive secretary, with the majority of those years in the flight test department. She was a member of numerous organizations including the National Secretaries Association, the Dan Echols Senior Center, and since her retirement she was an active and loyal volunteer at the Vintage Flying Museum as well as a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

She touched many lives with her humor, wit, good nature and generosity and had an incredible passion for others.
