Dwight Montgomery and Carole (Peterson) Montgomery made their home in Williston, where Dwight worked in sales for Montgomery Ward, Standard Clothing and Westland Oil Company for more than 30 years. He then worked at Home of Economy, where he specialized in the sale of batteries, tires and accessories, until his retirement in 1992. Carole also worked at Montgomery Ward, starting as a sales clerk and working up to the catalog store manager.
Dwight was a past-member of the American Legion, the V.F.W., the Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge. He was a charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and a past church council member.
Carole was a charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, the WELCA and was instrumental in developing the church choir and played the organ and piano for church services for over 40 years. Carole was proud that she was self-taught at the organ and piano. Carole enjoyed flower gardening, and playing both the organ and the piano, singing and being with family. She loved to knit and crochet and made sure all of her children and grandchildren all have something that she had made.
After retirement, Dwight and Carole traveled the lower 48 states and Canada. They had a lakeside cabin at Lake Jessie and enjoyed their time there. Dwight also liked camping, the outdoors, gardening, raising flowers, working in his yard, keeping it immaculate, and tinkering. He also did volunteer work at Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home.
