Galen Germundson Memorial Scholarship

Ted and his wife, Lois Schmitz. Two smiling, older Caucasian people. Both have white hair and thin, wire-frame glasses. The man is in a white shirt and the woman in a light blue jacket.

The Galen Germundson Memorial Scholarship was setup in remembrance of Galen Germundson, who passed away Jan. 4, 2018. After his wife died in 1990, things got tough for his family, but he kept stressing to his children that with education, they could do better. They did.

His youngest son, went on to get a Bachelor’s degree in Business Finance, and is the business manager for the West Fargo Park District. His daughter is an adaptive physical education teacher with a Ph.D. from Hamline University in Educational Leadership. She teachers in the St. Paul school District and teaches college classes on the weekend. His oldest son, went into teaching, and after being in the classroom, continued on to get his Master’s in School Administration. He is now the Principal at his alma mater, Williston High School, Mr. Jason Germundson.

Galen’s three children are very delighted to give this scholarship to a student that shows great determination and talent in the classroom, but also has a heart for people.
