David started teaching Math at Williston High School in 2000. He was passionate about his job. He put in many long hours coming before school and staying after school to help any of his students that wanted to come and get extra help. Because he did this, many of his evening hours and weekends were spent doing his correcting, making tests and putting in grades. He was very dedicated to being a teacher.
He loved his students and would give them all he had as long as they were willing to accept his help. He made many friends in his years of teaching with his co-workers and his students long after they graduated. Seeing and hearing from all the people’s lives he touched after his passing was totally overwhelming! He always felt that he never did enough, and so would keep trying to do more.
He wanted to continue helping students ever after his passing. His wish was to set up a scholarship for students who were going into STEM programs, so the David Jorgenson “Jorgy” Memorial Scholarship has been set up to honor his memory and to give a chance for students to continue their education beyond high school.
Scholarship amount: $500
