Scholarship Spotlight:
Bob Peterson Memorial Basketball Scholarship, George Meisel Memorial Art Scholarship, and Ruth Eder Memorial Arts Scholarship
In 2016, three Coyote Foundation scholarships will come to an end, barring further funding--the Bob Peterson Memorial Basketball Scholarship, the George Meisel Memorial Scholarship, and the Ruth Eder Memorial Arts Scholarship.
The Bob Peterson Memorial Basketball Scholarship was initially funded through the generosity of the Class of 1963, at their 50th reunion in 2013. During the reunion, the graduates of '63 reminisced about Mr. Bob Peterson, their government teacher and basketball coach. They remembered him as a mentor and confidante who was always polite and upbeat. They donated $1750 to start a scholarship in his name.
The George Meisel Memorial Art Scholarship was established after Mr. Meisel, an art teacher at WHS for 32 years, passed away in June of 2011. He was the auditorium manager at WHS for 20 years, taught drafting at Williston State College for 20 years, and was involved in Williston Prairie Painters Art Club, Entertainment Inc., and many other things. His wife of 53 years, Madge, and her children started the scholarship in George's memory.
The final scholarship expiring in 2016 is the Ruth Eder Memorial Arts Scholarship. This scholarship was started by Ms. Eder's granddaughter, Aislinn Larson. Ruth was a very gifted artist. Many of her oil paintings hang in the homes of her family and friends, and at one time, even in the ND State Capitol Building. She loved music, poetry, and art.
If you would like to contribute to keeping one of these--or any other existing scholarship--going, or you would like to establish a new scholarship in memory of a loved one, please contact us at the Coyote Foundation office at the address listed below. As always, your donations are tax-deductible and very much appreciated.
