Oliver Hanson was a farmer in Twelve Mile Township. He attended Minot Business College and then returned to farm the family farm. He served on the Rural Electric Board and the Farmers Union Board. He was a local and district officer in the Sons of Norway. He enjoyed gardening, word find puzzles, and visiting with his many friends. The scholarship began in 2008 as the Oliver Hanson Memorial Scholarship, and in 2013, upon Hilda’s passing, it was renamed to what it is now.
